Devon Kane Named Student-Athlete of the Month

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior women's basketball guard Devon Kane was chosen as the December Villanova Student-Athlete of the Month, as announced by the Office of Academic Support for Athletics Thursday afternoon.
A Nursing major, Kane holds a 3.12 cumulative grade-point average, and was named a Fall 2013 Academic All-Start for earning a GPA above 3.0 for the semester.
Kane currently leads Wildcats (15-5, 5-4 BIG EAST) in points per game (11.8) and assists (4.2 apg) while averaging 3.2 rebounds per game. In the team's win over Georgetown Wednesday night, the Springfield, Pa., native recorded 10 points, five boards and four assists.
Kane has earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors three times this season, and currently ranks third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4), sixth in the conference in assists and 20th in scoring.
This is the women's basketball teams second consecutive month with honors as Jessica Wamala was named November's Student-Athlete of the Month.
The Wildcats host conference rival Creighton this Saturday at 2 p.m.
