VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova will travel to No. 2 Connecticut on Tuesday, Jan. 29, for a Big East contest. The game will be played in Hartford at the XL Center. The Wildcats enter play with a 16-3 overall record and 5-1 mark in Big East play, while Connecticut is 18-1 overall and 5-1 in league action. Tip-off at is set for 7 p.m.
The Wildcats have played 14 games all-time at the XL Center and are 6-8 in those 14 contests. Of the 14 games, 13 have come as part of the Big East Tournament. The Wildcats are 0-2 all-time versus Connecticut at the XL Center (92-49 loss on Feb. 24, 2007; 72-42 loss in 2009 semifinals of BE Tourney).
Tuesday night will be a homecoming game for Villanova senior guard Rachel Roberts who is a native of Marlborough, Conn. Roberts, who is a graduate of Mercy High School, is having an outstanding season year for the Wildcats. She currently leads the team in minutes played (27.2 mpg.) and three-point field goals (32) and she is second on the team in scoring (11.3 ppg.) and assists (44).
Villanova is led by senior forward Laura Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (13.2 ppg.), rebounding (6.9 rpg.), field goal percentage (.560), steals (48) and blocks (37). Roberts ranks second in scoring at 11.3 points per game.
