Wildcats Return to BIG EAST Play vs. USF on Saturday

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova will try for win number six in a row when the Wildcats host South Florida on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Wildcats enter play with a 14-2 overall record and a 3-0 Big East mark, while the Bulls are 12-4 overall and 1-2 in league play. Tip-off at The Pavilion is set for 2 p.m. The last time Villanova had a 14-2 record was during the 2002-03 season. That Wildcat team went on to finish 28-6 overall, capture the Big East championship and advance to the Elite Eight. The last time Villanova was 15-2 was in 1986-87.

The Wildcats are led by senior forward Laura Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (12.8 ppg.), rebounding (6.1 rpg.), field goal percentage (.570), steals (42) and blocks (28). Senior guard Rachel Roberts ranks second in scoring at 10.3 points per game, while freshman Caroline Coyer has a team-best 43 assists.

In women's basketball action on Saturday, Feb. 11, the Villanova Wildcats traveled to Tampa, Fla., where they lost to the South Florida Bulls by a score of 54-39. With the loss, Villanova falls to 15-10 overall and 5-7 in Big East play, while South Florida improves to 13-13 overall and 5-7 in league play.
