Wildcats Return to BIG EAST Play vs. USF on Saturday

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova will try for win number six in a row when the Wildcats host South Florida on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Wildcats enter play with a 14-2 overall record and a 3-0 Big East mark, while the Bulls are 12-4 overall and 1-2 in league play. Tip-off at The Pavilion is set for 2 p.m.

The last time Villanova had a 14-2 record was during the 2002-03 season. That Wildcat team went on to finish 28-6 overall, capture the Big East championship and advance to the Elite Eight. The last time Villanova was 15-2 was in 1986-87.

Wildcats Lose at South Florida
In women's basketball action on Saturday, Feb. 11, the Villanova Wildcats traveled to Tampa, Fla., where they lost to the South Florida Bulls by a score of 54-39. With the loss, Villanova falls to 15-10 overall and 5-7 in Big East play, while South Florida improves to 13-13 overall and 5-7 in league play.

In the last six games, sophomore forward Taylor Holeman has been in a zone shooting the basketball. In the six contests, she 22-of-29 from the field for a .760 shooting percentage. At Penn on Wednesday she was 4-of-5 from the field and 1-of-1 from three-point range for nine points. For the year, she is averaging 4.3 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per contest and she is shooting .520 from the field (33-of-64).

The Wildcats are led by senior forward Laura Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (12.8 ppg.), rebounding (6.1 rpg.), field goal percentage (.570), steals (42) and blocks (28). Senior guard Rachel Roberts ranks second in scoring at 10.3 points per game, while freshman Caroline Coyer has a team-best 43 assists.
