Wildcats Begin BIG EAST Slate at Cincinnati on Sunday

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Wildcats open up the Big East portion of the schedule on Sunday, Jan. 6, with a road game at Cincinnati. Villanova enters play 10-2 overall, while the Bearcats are 8-5 on the season.

Beginning with Sunday's game, all but one of Villanova's remaining 17 games will be Big East contests. The lone exception is the Jan. 16 game at Penn. Under the direction of head coach Harry Perretta, the Wildcats are 13-17 in conference openers.

Villanova Earns Key BIG EAST Win
The Villanova Wildcats tallied a key Big East Conference win on Tuesday evening at The Pavilion with a 62-53 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats. With the win, Villanova improves to 13-7 overall and 3-4 in Big East play, while Cincinnati falls to 9-11 on the year and 0-7 in conference play.

Villanova has been credited with an assist on 191 of its 266 made field goals this year for 72.0 percent. The `Cats currently have nine players with double figures in assists led by Caroline Coyer with 36.

In the team's last outing against Dartmouth, the Wildcats registered a season-high 14 steals. Laura Sweeney led the way with four steals, followed by Taylor Holeman with three. The Villanova defense also forced the Big Green into 23 turnovers. For the year, the Wildcats are averaging 7.9 steals per game. Sweeney leads the team with 26 steals.

Villanova is led by Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (12.1 ppg.), rebounding (5.5 rpg.), field goal percentage (.580), steals (26) and blocks (18). Senior guard Rachel Roberts ranks second in scoring at 10.3 points per game, while freshman Caroline Coyer has a team-best 36 assists.
