VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova returns home on Saturday, Jan. 4, to play host to the Providence College Friars in a Big East Conference game. The Wildcats enter play 10-2 overall and 1-1 in Big East play, while Providence is 5-7 overall and 0-1 in conference action. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
When Villanova and Providence meet on Saturday, it will be the first time that the Wildcats have played at home since Dec. 7. It will also be just the third home game all season for Villanova. The Wildcats are currently 6-1 in road games, 3-0 in neutral court contests and 1-1 at home.
Entering play on Saturday, sophomore guard Caroline Coyer is riding a streak of scoring double figures in points in three consecutive games. The stretch includes 19 vs. Temple, 10 at Creighton and a career-high 20 against Marquette. For the year, she has netted double figures in nine of the 12 games, including in seven of the last eight.
Villanova is led in scoring by Coyer who is averaging 11.5 points per game. Senior guard Devon Kane is second on the team in scoring with a 10.9 points per game average. Coyer also leads the team in assists (4.5 apg.) and steals (14). Sophomore forward Kavunaa Edwards leads Villanova in rebounding with a 6.1 rebounds per game average.
