PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Kamesha Hairston scored 14 points to lead No. 25 Temple to a 52-43 victory over Villanova on Thursday night.

Candice Dupree scored nine points, well below her 17.1 average, and finished with 10 rebounds, helping the Owls (8-2) outrebound Villanova 45-30 and outscore the Wildcats 36-12 in the paint.

Villanova (7-3) struggled with its shooting in both halves, going 1-for-15 to start the first and 1-for-12 in the second.

Liad Suez-Karni scored 12 points for Villanova, which shot only 24.1 percent (13-for-54).

Temple's shooting wasn't much better in the first half as the Owls shot 37.9 percent (11-for-29) and led 22-19 at the break. Suez-Karni hit a 3-pointer just before halftime to give Temple the lead.

The Owls put the game out of reach with a 13-5 run, taking a 52-36 lead with 4:27 left.

Including postseason conference tournaments, Temple extended its winning streak over Big 5 opponents to 12 games. The Owls haven't lost a city series game against Villanova, La Salle, Penn or Saint Joseph's since dropping a 66-57 decision to the Wildcats early in the 2003-04 season.
