VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) -Essence Carson had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Heather Zurich added a career-high 13 points to lead No. 23 Rutgers to a 62-32 victory over Villanova on Saturday night.
Kia Vaughn and Matee Ajavon added 10 points apiece for the Scarlet Knights (17-7, 10-3 Big East), who won their third straight game and held Villanova to a season-low point total.
It was the ninth time this season Rutgers held an opponent below 50 points.
Stacie Witman scored 14 points for the Wildcats (7-19, 1-12), who lost their school-record 11th straight game.
Villanova has not won since beating West Virginia 70-64 in double overtime on Jan. 6. The Wildcats' previous season low was 45 points at West Virginia on Jan. 20.
Villanova struggled with its shooting, missing 19 of its last 21 shots in the first half. The Wildcats wound up shooting 22 percent from the field, including 6-of-31 from 3-point range.
Rutgers led 36-22 early in the second half before going on an 11-0 run to take control with 9:49 left.
Zurich and Vaughn scored four points apiece, and Ajavon had three during the spurt. Rutgers outrebounded Villanova, 47-38.
