Sliwa Earns All-Tournament Honors
On Dec. 29-30, the Villanova University women's basketball team particpated in the Vanderbilt MCI Prepaid/First American Classic held at Memorial Gym in Nashvlle, Tenn. In the first round, Villanova lost to the No. 7 ranked Vanderbilt Commodores, 74-42. The Wildcats rebounded in the consolation game with a 68-52 victory over Southwest Texas State.
For her efforts in the tournament, junior Jenn Sliwa was named to the All-Tournament Team. In the first round versus Vanderbilt, Sliwa tallied six points, five rebounds and two steals. Against Southwest Texas State, she registered 18 points, seven rebounds and a career-high five steals. This was the third All-Tournament Team honor of Sliwa's career. Last season as a sophomore, Sliwa earned All-Tournament distinction at both the DePaul Tahnksgiving Tournament and the Wildcat Christmas Classic.
Sliwa and the Wildcats return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 31 when they host Georgetown in a Big East battle at 2 p.m. Villanova will enter play with a 7-3 overall mark and a 1-1 Big East Conference record, while Georgetown is 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the Big East.
