On Thursday, May 16th, 2002, student-athletes, parents, coaches, mentors and administrators gathered in the Villanova Room of Connelly Center to celebrate the 9th Annual Athletics Senior Recognition Dinner. Joe Eichhorn, the voice of Villanova Football, acted as master of ceremonies for the evening - an evening that said "thank you & farewell" to the graduating class of 2002.

Delivering the keynote address was Vicki Huber-Rudawsky '89, a Wildcat standout in her years with the Track & Field program.

An award of special recognition, the Villanova Athletics Award of Valor, was presented for the first time this year to a person who was ever-so-worthy - Katie Sosnowski. This swimmer overcame amazing obstacles in a comeback from a near fatal car accident to swim again with her teammates in one final collegiate meet.

Softball's Sara Carlson and Track & Field's Mark Blattner were named the 2002 Villanova University Male & Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
