VILLANOVA, PA. - On April 30th, Villanova student-athletes took part in the annual pen pal day. For the past year, the student athletes have written letters back and forth to the students of the Evans Computer Magnet School. They finally met on the reading day before final exams.
The day began with head men's basketball coach Jay Wright speaking to the students about staying in school and looking up to role models. His enthusiasm started the day off with the students getting a tour of campus from the athletes. After their tour, all the youths and athletes went to lunch at Donohue Hall.
Women's soccer junior Regina Villari stated, "Pen Pal Day is fun because after writing letters to my pen pal, I can finally meet her. I enjoyed the day very much because I realized I made a difference in someone's life."
The student athletes and the students of Evans Computer Magnet School are looking forward to next year's Pen Pal Day.
