Men's Cross Country Returns to Action at Princeton Invitational on Saturday
Oct. 18, 2013
VILLANOVA, Pa.--On Saturday the men's cross country team will be in action at the Princeton Invitational, where more than 30 teams from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic will compete in a Championship and an Open race. The meet takes place at West Windsor Field near the Princeton campus and the men's races will be 8,000 meters. The Men's Championship Race starts at 11:15 a.m. and the Men's Open Race goes off at 12:45 p.m.
Villanova will be back in action for the first time since it came in second as a team at the Chile Pepper Festival in Arkansas two weeks ago. In that meet the Wildcats had seven runners in the top 20 overall, including freshman Patrick Tiernan (Toowoomba, Australia) and sophomore Jordy Williamsz (Melbourne, Australia) each finishing in the top 10. Tiernan led the team with a fourth place finish and Williamsz came in eighth.
Saturday's meet at Princeton serves as a measuring point of sorts for the Villanova season. Following the meet the Wildcats will turn their attention to preparing for the three postseason meets, beginning with the BIG EAST Championships in early November.
Results from the Princeton Invitational will be posted on Villanova.com on Saturday afternoon.
