Tully Advances to 800m Semifinals at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Sean Tully advanced to the semifinals of the 800m run on Wednesday evening at the NCAA Outdoor Championships held in Fayetteville, Ark. Tully finished second in his heat and ran a personal best 1:47.59. He ran a strong race in the last 200m coming from the back to cross the finish line. The semifinals are set for Thursday at 7:25 p.m. Earlier this week Tully was named Mid-Atlantic Region Male Track Athlete of the Year as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. He won the 800 meter title at the East Regional finishing in 1:49.39. Tully claimed the 2009 BIG EAST title in the 800 meters and ran the lead-off leg in the Penn Relays DMR Championship of America squad that won the title and gave Villanova its first victory since 2001.
