SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Villanova senior standout Bobby Curtis highlighted the first day of NCAA Championship competition last night at the State University of California in Sacramento. Curtis took first place in his respective heat of the 5,000m event with a blazing time of 14:30.56. His impressive performance ranked him second overall qualifying him for finals this Friday night.

Also putting up solid numbers for the first day of competition was hurdler Monique Morgan. Morgan ran in the preliminaries early in the day to take third in her respective heat with a time of 13.09 in the 100m hurdles. Her remarkable time propelled her into the semifinals, which also took place yesterday. Morgan put for a courageous effort to place sixth in her heat and 11th overall. Although she posted an amazing 13.21, her time fell just short of the getting her to the next round of competition.

The Wildcats look to carry yesterday's momentum into the second day of competition. Seniors Michael Kerrigan and Akilah Vargas will compete in their respective events later this afternoon. For complete live results, click here.
