Men's 4x800m 2nd, Morgan 4th In 100m Hurdles At Penn Relays

April 29, 2006

Philadelphia, Pa. - The men's 4x800m just missed winning the championship and junior Monique Morgan ran an excellent race and finished fourth in the 100m hurdles on the final day of the Penn Relays.

The relay team of freshmen Dan and Sean Tully and juniors Mark Korich and Drew Eckman ran a well-executed race but fell just short at the finish line to place second behind Oral Roberts (7:18.74). Eckman ran a solid anchor leg in 1:47.7 to nearly catch Oral Roberts' Prince Mumba Villanova finished in 7:19.06. Azusa Pacific (7:23.85), Connecticut (7:24.42) and Penn State (7:25.30) rounded out the top five.

"I am very happy with our performance today," said coach Marcus O'Sullivan. "All you can ask from them is for them to leave it all on the track and they did that. It was a great learning experience for them."

Morgan crossed the line in 13.24, just eight hundreths of a second off her personal best of 13.16 established in May of 2005.

She finished behind Josanne Lucas of Auburn who won the event in 13.02, Melanie Walker (Texas) placed second in 13.07, and Ronnetta Alexander (South Carolina) who finished in 13.22.
