HAVERFORD, Pa.--The Villanova men's and women's indoor track teams opened the 2004-05 season on Sunday by hosting the Jack Pyrah Invitational at nearby Haverford College. The event was held for the second year in a row to honor the career achievements of longtime Villanova track coach Jack Pyrah, who has been involved with the Wildcats program since the 1960's. In addition to Villanova, the other schools participating in the meet were the Delaware, La Salle, Temple, Haverford, Swarthmore, Widener, Cabrini and Franklin & Marshall.

Villanova won eight of the 15 events in the men's competition, while the women captured five of the 15 events contested on the afternoon. The team's next compete on January 15 at the NYU Meet.
