FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Sean Tully and sophomore Matt Gibney advanced to the finals of the 800m and 1,500m, respectively, at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday evening at McDonnell Field.

After running a personal best in the first round of the 800m on Wednesday, Tully returned to the track and finished third in his heat of the semifinals crossing the finish line in a new personal-best 1:46.84. Just as he did in the first round, Tully surged from behind for a strong finish in the semifinals. His performance automatically qualified him to the finals on Saturday, June 13 at 12:28 p.m.

Gibney finished third in his heat of the 1,500m to automatically qualify him to the finals. He clocked in at 3:41.70, a new personal best. Gibney ran a steady pace throughout each lap and remained strong to the finish line. The 1,500m finals are set for 1:21 p.m. on Saturday in Fayetteville.
