PRINCETON, N.J. - On the first full day or competition at the IC4A Championship, redshirt freshman Josh Lampron (Mansfield, Mass.) recorded a personal best time in the 800 meters and junior Elbert Maxwell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) registered a fourth place finish in the long jump at Weaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Lampron ran in the second of three preliminary heats in the 800 meters and crossed the finish line with a time of 1:50.30. He placed fourth in his heat and ninth overall in the field of 34 runners. The time of 1:50.30 eclipsed his previous top mark by three-hundredths of a second. Lampron had run a time of 1:50.33 at the Larry Ellis Invitational last month.
Villanova also ran in the preliminaries of the 4x400 meter relay. The group of sophomore Donald Urschel (East Brunswick, N.J.), freshman Ayomide Obadare (Elmont, N.Y.), junior Bryan Murphy (Teaneck, N.J.) and junior Cory Serfoss (Easton, Pa.) had a time of 3:14.04 to come in second in their heat and 14th overall out of 26 relay teams in the preliminaries.
In the long jump Maxwell recorded a distance of 7.30 meters and place fourth out of 21 competitors. The field was divided into two flights and Maxwell was the third place finisher in his flight.
The IC4A meet got underway in the rain on Friday night and redshirt freshman Harry Warnick (Fairfield, Conn.) tallied a 12th place finish in the 5000 meters. Warnick crossed the finish line with a time of 14:31.13 to finish ninth in his section of the event and 12th overall in a field of 34 athletes.
