Anuszewski Places Second in Hammer on First Day of BIG EAST Championships
Senior thrower Frank Anuszewski was the runner-up in the hammer throw and earned All-BIG EAST honors for the second straight season.

TAMPA, Fla. - Senior thrower Frank Anuszewski (Pottstown, Pa.) moved up two spots with his final throw and finished in second place in the hammer throw on the first day of competition at the BIG EAST Championships at the USF Track & Field Stadium on Friday afternoon. Anuszewski earned All-BIG EAST honors with his runner-up finish and registered a career-best throw of 56.88 meters in the competition.

Anuszewski registered his mark of 56.88 meters with his final throw. He was in fourth place at that point and his longest throw at that point had been on his first attempt, when he recorded a toss of 55.38 meters. With his final throw Anuszewski moved in front of athletes from Marquette and Cincinnati to earn All-BIG EAST recognition for the second straight year.

Junior Matt Kane (Fairfield, Conn.) was also competing for the Wildcats on the first day of the conference meet and he finished in 10th place in the 10000 meters with a time of 33:24.31 in his first 10K race of the season.

Saturday is a full day of action with field events taking place during the afternoon and running events getting underway at 4:30 p.m.
