Villanova Men's 4xMile Relay Team Fourth at Final Day of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PA. - On the third and final day of competition at the 2004 Penn Relays on Saturday, April 24th, the Villanova men's 4xMile Relay team of Michael Baird, Kippy Keino, Bobby Curtis and Tom Parlapiano finished fourth overall with a time of 16:29.85. The 2004 Penn Relays is the 110th running of the prestigious event.
Baird, who came to Villanova from Princeton University, ran the first leg of the race for the `Cats in a time of 4:15.4. The Wildcats found themselves towards the back of the pack early on, but moved up considerably on the second leg as Keino registered a 4:05.5. Keino handed the baton off to Curtis, who bettered Keino's effort by four tenths of a second, finishing the third leg in 4:05.1. Running the anchor leg of the race for head coach Marcus O'Sullivan's Villanova squad was Parlapiano, who moved up two spots from sixth to fourth in the final lap of the race, and finished the fourth leg with a team best 4:03.9.
Winning the Penn Relay title in the 4xMile was Arkansas, which has now taken the event in nine of the last 10 years.
