NEWARK, Del. - Senior thrower Frank Anuszewski (Pottstown, Pa.) recorded high finishes in both the hammer and the discus and Villanova entered athletes into five events at the Delaware Open on Saturday at Delaware Stadium. Seven athletes competed for the Wildcats in field events and three others ran the 400 meters during the meet.
Anuszewski came in third in the hammer with a throw of 51.76 meters and also finished sixth out of 24 competitors in the discus. He registered a mark of 43.60 meters in the discus and came up just shy of matching his personal best for the current outdoor season.
Sophomore Drew King (New Haven, Conn.) also competed in both the discus and the hammer. He established a personal best throw of 40.24 meters in the hammer and came in fourth. He also finished 12th in the discus (36.07m). Senior Billy Berrigan (Vista, Calif.) also produced a new personal best in the hammer, finishing sixth with a distance of 35.24 meters.
The trio of freshmen Connor Milanaik, Chris Glennie (Fallsington, Pa.) and Ryan Milanaik all fared well in the javelin. Connor Milanaik placed fourth out of 20 with a throw of 53.98 meters, Glennie was eighth (49.65m) and Ryan Milanaik finished 14th (42.57m).
In the 400 meters the freshmen trio of Cory Serfoss (Easton, Pa.), Matt Whalen (Reading, Mass.) and Jake Stillings (Wyckoff, N.J.) finished a combined seven-tenths of a second apart from each other. Serfoss was 16th overall out of 37 runners with a time of 51.26, Whalen finished 19th (51.86) and Stillings wound up 21st (51.97).
