Wildcats Add Seven BIG EAST Qualifiers

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Villanova men's track and field squad added seven BIG EAST qualifiers to the performance list and improved on marks at the 45th Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. over the weekend.
In the triple jump, Robert Sainvil cleared 14.25 meters in the finals to earn a fifth place finish. His jump ranks him 11th in the current conference standings.
After clearing a height of 1.99 meters in the high jump, Curran Darling qualified to the BIG EAST Championships and ranks 13th overall in the event. He will look to improve upon his standing in the next few weeks.
Nicoy Hines and Stefan Goodridge finished in seventh and eighth place, respectively in the 400m hurdles and both earned conference qualifying times. Hines crossed the finish line in 53.20 seconds, while Goodridge clocked in at 53.48 seconds. Both are in the top-10 in the current BIG EAST standings.
After finishing the 200m dash in 21.98 seconds, Michael Lynch earned a conference qualifying time and ranks 17th in the standings.
Jason Apwah crossed the finish line in third place in his section of the 1,500m run recording a time of 3:54.17; which qualifies him to the BIG EAST Championships in May.
Daniel Lewis ran 8:56.00 in the 3,000m steeplechase and earned second place finishing three seconds ahead of the third place finisher. He vaulted into the top spot in the BIG EAST standings with his time.
The quartet of Garrett Kroner, Hines, Chris Kearney and Carlton Bowers finished in second place in the 4x400m relay. They combined to run 3:12.67 and earned a conference qualifier where they are ranked third after the weekend.
The Wildcats continue outdoor competition on Saturday, April 10 with a group competing at the Hurricane Invitational at the University of Miami and at a quad meet hosted by Princeton University.
