NEW YORK - Redshirt freshman Harry Warnick (Fairfield, Conn.) finished fourth in the 5000 meters at the Armory Collegiate Invitational and led a trio of Villanova runners that set personal bests in the event at the New York Armory on Saturday afternoon. On the second and final day of the meet the Wildcats had entries in three running events and one field event.
In the college section of the 5000 meters Warnick crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 14:36.35. The four Villanova runners in the race all finished within less than eight seconds of each other. Junior Robert Hurlbut (Rochester, N.Y.) came in seventh with a personal best time of 14:39.39 and sophomore Tom Trainer (Havertown, Pa.) was 13th in 14:43.38. Redshirt freshman Kevin Corbusier (Monkton, Md.) ran his first collegiate 5000 meters race and finished with a personal best time of 14:43.85.
Graduate student Mike Palmisano (Dresher, Pa.) and freshman Ben Malone (River Vale, N.J.) each competed in the college section of the 800 meters. Palmisano finished fifth out of 73 competitors and recorded a time of 1:53.09, while Malone placed 42nd overall and had a time of 1:56.66.
The entry for the Wildcats in the college section of the 4x400 meter relay posted a time of 3:23.63 and finished in 14th place.
Villanova returns to the Armory in two weeks to compete in the BIG EAST Championships, which will be contested on Friday and Saturday, February 21-22.
