Tully Posts NCAA Provisional Time in the 800m

BRONX, N.Y. - The Villanova men's track and field squad completed competition at the New Balance Collegiate Invite on Saturday evening. The Wildcats had several athletes post BIG EAST qualifying standards and had one NCAA provisional qualifier in senior Sean Tully.
The meet was held at The Armory in the Bronx, N.Y.; the same location of the conference championships later this month.
Tully posted his NCAA provisional time in the 800m finishing first in his section with a time of 1:49.91. Also successful in the 800m was sophomore Jason Apwah and senior Cody Harper who were first and third respectively in their sections. Apwah ran a BIG EAST qualifying time of 1:50.72, while Harper clocked in at 1:51.61, also a conference standard.
In the mile the Wildcats had four qualify to the BIG EAST championships. Matthew Gibney was first in his section crossing the line in 4:06.59. Sophomores Chris Williams and Ben Guest ran 4:09.92 and 4:06.72 respectively while Patrick Mellea ran 4:09.56.
Sophomore Hugo Beamish ran a personal best by six seconds in the 3,000m finishing in 8:09.18. His time was good enough to qualify to the conference championships.
The 4x400m relay finished first in its section.
