UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Inspired by Friday night's Millrose Games winning 4x800m squad the men's track and field team turned in several impressive performances at the Penn State National Invitational on Saturday in University Park, Pa.
Senior Elvis Lewis finished first in the 500m. He ran a personal best 1:02.6. The 4x400m relay team of junior Garrett Kroner, sophomore Chris Kearney, Lewis and sophomore Cody Harper was fourth crossing the finish line in 3:14.87.
Sophomores Ben Guest and Chris Williams both qualified to the BIG EAST Championships and turned in personal bests in the mile run. Guest finished in 4:07.31, while Williams was right behind him in 4:07.38.
Senior Patrick Mellea was the first collegian in the 3,000m and finished second overall 8:09.02, also a conference qualifying time.
Also in the 3,000m was sophomore Hugo Beamish and junior Dan Lewis who ran personal bests and BIG EAST qualifiers finishing in 8:14.17 and 8:19.68 respectively.
Harper finished in a personal best and BIG EAST qualifying time of 1:50.75 in the 800m.
The Wildcats will be back on the track on Friday, Feb. 6 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational held in the Bronx, N.Y.
