Men's Track & Field -- BIG EAST Championships (2/24/17)

The men's track & field team opened competition at the BIG EAST Championships on February 24, 2017.

On Conboy: Made his mark as a freshman in the Wildcats pole vault group and was the BIG EAST outdoor champion ... Has a wealth of potential as he gains additional experience and will be one of the top pole vaulters in the BIG EAST.

2017 Outdoor: Won the BIG EAST title in the pole vault with a personal best mark of 4.71 meters ... Topped a field of six competitors at the BIG EAST Championships and became the third Villanova athlete to be the outdoor BIG EAST pole vault champion ... Competed six times overall during the outdoor season ... Cleared a height of 4.70 meters in the college section at the Penn Relays before surpassing that mark in his next outing at the BIG EAST Championships ... Tallied a first place finish with a height of 4.35 meters at the Haverford Invitational ... Cleared the bar at 4.45 meters at both the Penn Challenge and the Hurricane Alumni Invitational ... Finished 14th in the championship section with a height of 4.50 meters at the Colonial Relays.

2016-17 Indoor: Competed in the pole vault at five meets during the season ... Earned All-BIG EAST honors with a third place finish at the BIG EAST Championships ... His mark of 4.60 meters at the conference meet was a personal best at the time of the meet ... Made his collegiate debut at the Fast Times Before Finals Meet in December, where he tied for seventh place with a height of 4.10 meters ... Runner-up at the Villanova Open after a successful attempt at 4.50 meters ... Came in fifth at the Gotham Cup (4.35m) and sixth at the FastTrack National Invitational (4.45m).

Personal: Born 8/31/97 in Albany, N.Y. … One of three children of Daniel and Mary Conboy … Siblings are Caroline (22) and Catherine (15) … Older sister, Caroline, is a senior on the swimming & diving team at William Smith College, and was an All-American in the breaststroke last season … Hobbies include mountain biking, swimming and hiking … Chose to attend Villanova for the strong sense of community and the school spirit on campus … Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
