The men's track & field team opened competition at the BIG EAST Championships on February 24, 2017.


Men's Track & Field at Villanova Invitational

Villanova hosted its final home meet of the season at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex on Feb. 4, 2017.

On Testa: Made immediate contributions to the team in the jumps and shorter sprint events as a freshman last season ... Versatile athlete who showed great promise ... Capable of being a consistent BIG EAST scorer with the chance to keep getting better as he gains additional collegiate experience ... Poised to continue his ascent during the coming season.

2017 Outdoor: Scored in three different events at the BIG EAST Championships and also set a personal best in the triple jump during the conference meet ... Came in seventh at the conference championships in both the triple jump and the long jump, recording marks of 13.65 meters and 6.86 meters, respectively ... In addition to establishing a new PR in the triple jump, his distance in the long jump was his best in a Villanova uniform ... Also ran the leadoff leg of the 4x100 meter relay in which Villanova finished fourth with a time of 42.68 ... Led off the 4x100 relay at the Penn Relays, helping the Wildcats finish with a time of 42.59 in the preliminary heats ... At the season-opening Penn Challenge, recorded a personal best time of 22.77 in the 200 meters to tie for seventh place, and also finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.56 meters ... Came in fifth in the university section of the long jump at the Colonial Relays (6.36m) and was seventh in the long jump at the Sam Howell Invitational (6.78m) ... Placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.52 meters at the Larry Ellis Invitational.

2016-17 Indoor: Recorded a personal best mark of 13.63 meters in the triple jump at the BIG EAST Championships, where he scored team points with a sixth place finish ... Competed in the long jump and the triple jump, as well as the 60 meters and the 200 meters during the season ... Made his collegiate debut at the Jack Pyrah Invitational, where he was the runner-up in the long jump with a distance of 6.71 meters and also recorded a time of 7.37 in the 60 meters ... Placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.15 meters and also tallied a long jump mark of 6.14 meters at the Nittany Lion Challenge ... Competed in the long jump and registered a measurement of 6.51 meters at the Gotham Cup ... Ran the 200 meters in 22.98 and had a mark of 6.41 meters in the long jump at the Villanova Open ... Had a time of 22.87 and a long jump of 6.27 meters at the Villanova Invitational ... Tallied a distance of 6.29 meters in the long jump at the FastTrack National Invitational.

William Tennent High School:
Earned four varsity letters in track & field and three in soccer as a center back … Was named team MVP for the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons as both a junior and a senior … Named the Bucks County Courier Times Male Track Athlete of the Year as a senior … During his senior year earned third team PTFCA All-State honors in the 300 meter hurdles outdoors, as well as honorable mention all-state recognition indoors in the long jump … School record holder in the long jump (6.95 meters) … Also holds the single-season record for most team points scored (368) … Competed for the Ambler Olympic Club for four years and was a three-time Region 2 long jump champion … Achieved Distinguished Honors status academically all four years … Winner of the Army Reserve Athletic Scholar Award as a senior and graduated cum laude … High school teammate of current Villanova senior P.J. Succi.

Personal: Born 8/13/98 in Jenkintown, Pa. … One of five children of Francis and Kimberleigh Testa … Siblings are Frank (36), Nick (33), Sam (29) and Alexis (18) … Has two cousins, Taylor Johnson and Theresa Testa, who played college sports … Taylor was a discus thrower at Monmouth and Theresa played field hockey at Saint Joseph’s … Hobbies include playing soccer, basketball and video games with his friends … Chose to attend Villanova for the historical success of the track & field program, as well as the chance to be close to home and have the opportunity to pursue an elite education … Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
