Elcock and Judge Register Personal Best Marks at Princeton Outdoor Invite
Freshmen field athletes Aaron Elcock (West Chester, Pa.) and Jack Judge (Palisades, N.Y.) recorded personal best marks in the triple jump and the javelin, respectively, during competition at the Princeton Outdoor Invite at Weaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Villanova had athletes competing in eight different events on Saturday, including three running events and five field events.
Villanova Sprinters Look Strong in Relays at Hurricane Alumni Invitational
Villanova competed in seven different events during the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Of note among the team's results at Cobb Stadium were strong performances in two relays by the Wildcats, who finished as the runners-up in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:13.31. Sophomore middle distance runner Elliot Slade (Cardiff, United Kingdom) provided the team's top individual result by winning the 1500 meters.
Wildcats Compete in Six Events on First Day of Sam Howell Invitational
Sophomore thrower Paul Sheridan (Midland Park, N.J.) and freshman Jack Judge (Palisades, N.Y.) tallied a 1-2 finish in the javelin as Villanova began the weekend by competing in the Sam Howell Invitational at Weaver Stadium on Friday afternoon. The day's action for the Wildcats included competition in two running and four field events.
Wildcats Wrap Up Colonial Relays with Win in Sprint Medley Relay
A first place finish in the sprint medley relay highlighted a day of limited action for Villanova as the Colonial Relays wrapped up at Zable Stadium on Saturday afternoon. In addition to the relay, the Wildcats had two athletes competing individually in the field events. Villanova tied for a 12th place finish out of 44 teams who scored points during the three-day meet.
Ben Malone Wins 1500 Meters at Colonial Relays
Sophomore middle distance runner Ben Malone (River Vale, N.J.) won the seeded section of the 1500 meters and was one of three Villanova athletes who registered personal best times at the Colonial Relays on Friday afternoon. Two days of competition at Zable Stadium started on a strong note for the Wildcats, who scored 21 team points on the day.
Men's Track & Field Opens Season at Penn Challenge
Villanova got the outdoor track & field season started on Saturday afternoon by competing in the Penn Challenge at Franklin Field. There were athletes competing for the Wildcats in five running events and seven field events for the day, with a pair of personal bests and two runner-up finishes highlighting the day's results.
Men’s Track & Field Distance Medley Relay Squad Earns First Team All-America Honors
Senior middle distance runner Rob Denault (Aurora, Ont.) capped his incredible collegiate career as part of the Villanova lineup in the distance medley relay at the NCAA Championships this past weekend. Denault, freshman Harry Purcell (Dublin, Ireland), sophomore Elliot Slade (Cardiff, United Kingdom) and senior Jordy Williamsz (Melbourne, Australia) earned first team All-America honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday afternoon after their sixth place finish in the DMR at the NCAA meet.
Villanova Places Sixth in Distance Medley Relay at NCAA Championships
In the national championship race of the distance medley relay on Friday night, Villanova tallied a sixth place finish with a time of 9:34.30 at the NCAA Championships held at the Birmingham Crossplex. This is the second straight year and the third time in the last four seasons that the Wildcats have scored in the DMR at the national meet. Villanova had a lineup that consisted of seniors Rob Denault (Aurora, Ont.) and Jordy Williamsz (Melbourne, Australia) on the leadoff and anchor legs, respectively, in addition to freshman Harry Purcell (Dublin, Ireland) on the 400 meters and sophomore Elliot Slade (Cardiff, United Kingdom) on the 800 meters.
