Talen Singer begins his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Villanova men's and women's track & field teams. He works with the Wildcats pole vault and high jump athletes.
Singer achieved immediate success with the Villanova student-athletes he coached upon his arrival on campus, as the Wildcats have had a number of BIG EAST qualifiers in both the pole vault and high jump under his guidance.
During the 2009-10 season, Ashlyn Llerandi registered eight first-place finishes in the pole vault, four each during the indoor and outdoor seasons. She set a new personal best three times during the indoor season and came in third at the BIG EAST Championships, before going on to record an ECAC individual title. During the outdoor season, Llerandi qualified for the NCAA East Regional for the first time. Also last season, Audrey Gariepy-Bogui had a successful outdoor season in the high jump and qualified for the NCAA East Regional.
In addition to his coaching duties at Villanova, Singer has spent 15 years as a coach at Phoenixville Area High School, first as the jumps coach and then as the head coach of both the boys' and girls' programs.
As head coach at Phoenixville, Singer led his teams to three PAC-10 championships, including two on the boys side and one on the girls side. On an individual level, he also mentored numerous district, state and national medalists.
Singer is a founding board member of the National Pole Vault Safety Certification Board (PVSCB). He has been a SkyJumpers clinic coach for eight years and is a member of the NSCA.
Singer graduated from West Chester in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology.
