Wildcats Earn All-BIG EAST Honors In 15 Different Events
The listing of All-BIG EAST honors from last week's conference championships was announced on Friday morning and Villanova had a total of 27 selections from 15 different events. The top three finishers in each of the 20 different events that make up the BIG EAST Championships garner all-conference accolades. The selections for the Wildcats represent new program records for most all-conference honors and most events with all-conference performances in a single year.
Rob Denault and Distance Medley Relay Squad Selected for NCAA Championships
The selected entries for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships have been announced and Villanova is qualified for the national meet in the distance medley relay for the eighth straight year. In addition to the relay, junior distance runner Rob Denault (Aurora, Ont.) was selected individually to compete in the Mile for the second time in his career. The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on March 13-14 at Randal Tyson Track in Fayetteville, Ark.
Williamsz Named Outstanding Track Performer as Wildcats Defend BIG EAST Title
At the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, Villanova won seven different events and captured the team title at the conference meet for the second straight year. This is the fifth team title overall for the Wildcats, who scored 201.5 points and won by a 30-point margin over the other six conference teams.

The first night of competition in the BIG EAST Championships at the New York Armory looked very similar to what a highlight reel from last year's opening day would look like. Villanova successfully defended its conference titles in three different events and scored 48.5 points as the BIG EAST meet got underway on Saturday night.

Sam McEntee Named BIG EAST Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Senior distance runner Sam McEntee (Perth, Australia) was announced on Friday morning as the BIG EAST Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in a release made by the conference office. The prestigious honor comes with a $4,000 scholarship which McEntee can apply towards his postgraduate studies. He was chosen to receive the award by the BIG EAST Academic Affairs Committee.
Several Wildcats Race to Huge Personal Bests in Mile at David Hemery Valentine Invitational
In an elite section of the Mile featuring many of the top athletes in the nation, senior Dusty Solis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) headlined a group of five Villanova runners who all shattered their previous personal bests at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The group of five Wildcats in the Mile had the top results of the day for Villanova, which had 23 athletes overall competing in seven individual races and five field events.
Distance Medley Relay Races to School Record in Boston
A race that is such a big part of the Wildcats track & field history has another great moment to add to its history after a record-breaking race at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday afternoon. Villanova ran the distance medley relay in 9:27.04 at the Track & Tennis Center to break a 13-year old school record and surge to the top of the national performance list for this season.
