Jordy Williamsz and Patrick Tiernan Named First Team All-Americans
Sophomore Jordy Williamsz (Perth, Australia) and freshman Patrick Tiernan (Toowoomba, Australia) were each recognized as first team All-Americans in an announcement made by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday afternoon. Villanova received a total of four All-America honors for the outdoor season, with senior Samuel Ellison (Dresher, Pa.) and junior Elbert Maxwell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also earning honorable mention All-America distinction. All four athletes competed for the Wildcats at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. last week.

Freshman distance runner Patrick Tiernan (Toowoomba, Australia) ended his sensational freshman campaign for Villanova with a sixth place finish in the 5000 meters at historic Hayward Field in the NCAA Championships on Friday evening. Tiernan registered the 12th fastest time in the history of the national meet and became only the fourth Wildcats runner to finish in the top eight of the 500 meters at the outdoor championships. His finishing time of 13:31.25 was a personal best by more than six seconds and makes him the second fastest athlete in school history in the 5000 meters.

Junior distance runner Sam McEntee (Perth, Australia) was one of 10 men's track & field student-athletes named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team in an announcement made on Thursday morning. This is the second time that McEntee has earned a spot on the team, which recognizes academic and athletic accomplishments from both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Samuel Ellison Places Eighth in National Semifinal Heat of 800 Meters
In the national semifinals of the 800 meters, senior Samuel Ellison (Dresher, Pa) recorded a time of 1:51.07 and came in eighth in his heat in the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field on Wednesday afternoon. Ellison concluded a stellar senior season with his third straight appearance at the outdoor national championships.

Villanova head coach Marcus O'Sullivan was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year for the outdoor season in an announcement made this afternoon by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This is the third such honor of the 2013-14 academic year for O'Sullivan, who also received the award following the cross country and indoor track & field seasons. He has guided the Wildcats to their first-ever BIG EAST "triple crown," as Villanova won the team titles at the BIG EAST Championships in all three seasons.
