The remarkable run of success that the men's track & field team has been on for the past two years continued in full force on Saturday afternoon, as Villanova wrapped up its second straight outdoor BIG EAST title with a dominant all-around performance at the conference meet. This is the seventh time that the Wildcats have been outdoor BIG EAST champions, and the victory wraps up the program's second straight "Triple Crown" performance. Villanova also won the team titles in cross country and indoor track & field during the 2014-15 academic year to match its achievement from last year.

Some of the top track & field athletes in the nation will take center stage at Villanova Stadium this week, where Villanova will be hosting the BIG EAST Championships for the fifth time in the past eight years. This is the 24th time overall that the Wildcats will host the conference meet. Eight women's teams and seven men's teams will compete on Friday and Saturday, and Villanova will be looking to defend both its men's and women's titles from last year.
Jordy Williamsz Leads Australia to Pair of Bronze Medals at IAAF World Relays
Junior middle distance runner Jordy Williamsz (Melbourne, Australia) followed up his recent Penn Relays performance with a pair of equally impressive races on the world stage. He represented his native Australia at the IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas this past weekend, where he ran on both the distance medley relay and the 4x800 meter relay. Australia finished in third place and won bronze medals in each of those events.
Wildcats Wrap Up Competition at Princeton Open
Competition wrapped up at the Princeton Open on Saturday afternoon, where Villanova had eight athletes competing in a total of seven different events. The meet was the final competition for the Wildcats before they host the BIG EAST Championships next weekend.

Junior middle distance runner Jordy Williamsz (Melbourne, Australia) was named the Division I Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Williamsz earned the honor after his sensational finish on the anchor leg of the 4xMile relay at the Penn Relays last weekend. He and senior Elbert Maxwell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) were also named the BIG EAST male track & field athletes of the week.

At the end of an anchor leg in the 4xMile relay that had more than its share of bumps in the road, Villanova junior Jordy Williamsz (Melbourne, Australia) made sure that when he finally made his move, it would be the one that counted. Williamsz passed Oregon anchor Edward Cheserek coming around the back turn and took the lead for good with less than 200 meters to go as the Wildcats captured the Championship of America title in the relay. Villanova won its 97th title all-time at the Penn Relays, and its 18th in the 4xMile relay.
