Villanova won its second straight BIG EAST indoor title on Sunday, March 1 at the New York Armory.

On Williamsz: Has made a name for himself on the international scene over the past two years and is an incredible talent in the middle distance events ... In the past two years alone is a five-time first team All-American, six-time BIG EAST champion and two-time Penn Relays champion ... His success has expanded well beyond the bounds of collegiate competition and he has represented his native Australia in a number of international competitions, including the IAAF World Relays in each of the past two years ... A sub-four minute miler who is one of 36 members of that exclusive club in the history of the Villanova program ... Within that group he ranks in the top half with a personal best time of 3:56.84 in the Mile ... 2015 Outdoor: First team All-American and BIG EAST champion in the 1500 meters but his top performance of the season came in the 4xMile relay at the Penn Relays ... Anchored the Wildcats to their first Championship of America title in the event since 2001 and the team's 97th title all-time at the Penn Relays ... Produced an incredible kick over the final 200 meters of the race to pass runners from Stanford and Oregon before taking the lead entering the final straightaway ... Broke away for the win after a remarkably tactictal anchor leg and wound up with a split of 4:13.6 for the anchor leg ... Villanova had a winning time of 16:18.07 in the relay ... One day earlier had anchored the Wildcats to a second place finish in the distance medley relay against the same anchor runners from Oregon and Stanford who race in the 4xMile relay ... Produced a split of 3:58.94 over the final 1600 meters and Villanova was the runner-up in the race with a time of 9:34.36 ... Also ran the third leg of the 4x800 meter relay just hours after the 4xMile race and had a split of 1:49.09 as the Wildcats finished third in that relay with a time of 7:18.84 ... Advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 1500 meters for the second straight year ... Placed fifth in the final at the national meet with a time of 3:55.36 ... 2014-15 Indoor: First team All-American in the distance medley relay ... Ran an incredible split of 3:55.46 on the 1600 meters leg of the relay to rally Villanova to a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships ... The Wildcats posted a total time of 9:32.96 in the relay and notched their fourth top-eight finish in the past six years ... His split of 3:55.46 on the anchor leg is the equivalent of a 3:56.84 Mile, which happens to be his exact personal best for that event ... Helped the Wildcats set a school record in the DMR with a time of 9:27.04 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational ... At the time of the race, the mark of 9:27.04 also led the nation for the season and ranked as the third fastest in NCAA history ... Led off the record-setting relay and had a remarkable split of 2:52.3 for the first 1200 meters ... Was named the Most Outstanding Performer for the track events at the BIG EAST Championships and was instrumental in helping Villanova successfully defend its team title ... At the conference meet he anchored the distance medley relay squad to a first place finish and was also the individual champion of the 3000 meters ... Tallied a split of 4:08.67 on the 1600 meters anchor leg of the DMR as the Wildcats recorded a winning time of 9:51.20 ... 2014 Cross Country: Earned All-Mid Atlantic Region honors for the third straight season and All-BIG EAST accolades for the second straight year ... Helped the Wildcats defend their team titles at both the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional and the BIG EAST Championships ... Was a scoring runner for the team in all five of his starts ... Fourth finisher for Villanova at both the NCAA Championships and the NCAA Mid-Atlatnic Regional ... Finished in 58th place at the national meet and in 13th place at the regional meet ... 2013-14 Indoor: First team All-American and the BIG EAST champion in the Mile ... Even before those performances had stood out on the national scene after recording a time of 3:56.84 in a first place finish at the Iowa State Classic ... That was the first official sub-four minute mile of his career and the fastest time by a Villanova runner since Wildcats head coach Marcus O'Sullivan ran faster during his own racing career ... Williamsz is now part of the group of 36 elite runners from Villanova who have run a sub-four minute mile during their careers and he is one of just 13 from the group to have a time as fast as his mark at Iowa State ... Ranked second in the nation during the regular season with that time ... Came in eighth in the final at the NCAA Championships with a time of 4:04.79 running at altitude in New Mexico ... Lowered his time from 4:10.18 in the preliminary heats, when he was 12th overall but made a furious charge in the home stretch to finish fourth in his heat and earn an automatic spot in the final ... Won the BIG EAST title with a winning time of 4:08.90 ... Was second overall in the preliminaries at the conference meet with a time of 4:13.31 ... Anchored the distance medley relay at the Boston University Last Chance Meet ... Helped the Wildcats win the relay with a time of 9:28.06 to earn the DMR squad a berth in the NCAA Championships ... Opened his indoor season at the Penn State National, where he finished second individually in the Invitational section of the Mile (4:00.18) and also led off the DMR which finished third in the Invitational section with a time of 9:36.89.
2013 Cross Country: Was a fixture in the lineup for a Villanova squad that won team titles at both the BIG EAST Championships and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional ... Earned All-BIG EAST and All-Mid Atlantic Region accolades ... Set personal best times for both an 8,000 meter course (23:50) and a 10,000 meter course (30:10) ... Came in 10th overall (30:10) at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional to help the Wildcats wrap up a team bid to the NCAA Championships for a program-record seventh consecutive season ... Came in 11th at the BIG EAST Championships (24:34) ... Helped lead Villanova to the team title at the Princeton Invitational with a fourth place overall finish (23:50) out of 272 runners ... 2013 Outdoor: Qualified for the NCAA East Regional in the 1500 meters and advanced to the national quarterfinals in the event ... Also earned All-BIG EAST honors and was the conference runner-up in the 1500 meters ... In the national first round was an automatic qualifier with a time of 3:47.95 and moved on to the national quarterfinals, where he came in 16th in 3:48.15 ... Posted a time of 3:47.83 in the finals at the BIG EAST Championships ... During the preliminary heats he led a field of 26 runners with a time of 3:53.57 ... First place finisher in the 1500 meters at the Larry Ellis Invitational with a time of 3:44.43 ... Only team member who competed on all three relays at the Penn Relays ... Anchored the distance medley relay team to a runner-up finish (9:26.80) and ran the second leg of the second-place 4x800 meter relay (7:17.37) ... Also ran the second leg of the 4xMile relay and Villanova came in third with a time of 16:18.53 ... Ran the 800 meters leg of the distance medley relay as the Wildcats won the relay at the Colonial Relays (9:56.02).
2012-13 Indoor: First team All-American and a BIG EAST champion in the distance medley relay ... Led off the DMR at both the Alex Wilson Invitational and the NCAA Championships ... Villanova finished fifth at the national meet with a time of 9:35.46 to earn All-America accolades ... At the Alex Wilson meet the team's time of 9:30.47 secured the NCAA Championships berth and was good for a ninth place finish ... Anchored the distance medley relay squad to a conference winning time of 9:47.59 at the BIG EAST Championships ... Scored team points individually at the conference meet and received All-BIG EAST honors by finishing third in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:04.77 ... Earlier in the season was the runner-up in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:18.71 at the Great Dane Classic ... 2012 Cross Country: Made his collegiate debut at the Paul Short Run and instantly became one of the Wildcats top contributors ... Went on to earn All-Mid Atlantic Region honors and help Villanova secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships ... Finished in fourth place overall and was second on the team at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional with a time of 30:36 ... Was the fourth counting runner for the Wildcats at the NCAA Championships, where he placed 161st in 31:12.8 ... Came in fourth on the team with an 8K time of 25:19.83 and was 26th overall at the BIG EAST Championships ...
