Men's Track & Field at Villanova Invitational

Villanova hosted its final home meet of the season at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex on Feb. 4, 2017.

On Powers: Had a successful collegiate debut as a freshman last season ... Versatile athlete in the Villanova sprint group who made contributions to the team both individually and on the relays ... Top events are the 200 meters and the 400 meters ... Has a wealth of potential as he gains more experience and is poised to continue making progress during the coming season.

2017 Outdoor: Ran in three events at the BIG EAST Championships, including helping the Wildcats 4x100 meter relay team finish in fourth place with a time of 42.68 ... Ran the third leg of the relay, and also competed individually in the preliminary heats of the 200 meters and the 400 meters ... Registered a personal best time of 22.63 in the 200 meters and finished with a time of 50.55 in the 400 meters ... Ran the third leg of the 4x100 relay at the Penn Relays, where the Wildcats tallied a time of 42.59 in the preliminary heats ... Recorded a first place finish in the 400 meters and set a personal best time of 49.65 at the Haverford Invitational ... Came in 11th in the 400 meters at the Sam Howell Invitational (50.99) ... Opened the outdoor season by placing sixth in both the 200 meters (22.77) and the 400 meters (49.86) at the Penn Challenge ... Tallied a time of 51.11 in the 400 meters at the Colonial Relays, and also ran one of the 200 meter legs of the sprint medley relay in which Villanova came in seventh with a time of 3:30.90.

2016-17 Indoor: Competed in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters at the BIG EAST Championships, and recorded season-best times in both events at the conference meet ... Tallied a time of 22.78 in the preliminary heats of the 200 meters, and crossed the finish line in 50.00 in the preliminaries of the 400 meters ... Made his collegiate debut at the season-opening Jack Pyrah Invitational, where he ran the anchor leg for a 4x400 meter relay entry which came in second with a time of 3:23.28 ... Posted times of 23.77 in the 200 meters and 51.58 in the 400 meters at the Nittany Lion Challenge ... Ran the 400 meters at both the Gotham Cup (52.14) and the Villanova Open (51.68) ... Anchored the 4x400 meter relay to a third place finish and a time of 3:19.32 at the Villanova Open ... Posted a time of 23.11 in the 200 meters at the Villanova Invitational ... Ran the 400 meters in 51.16 at the FastTrack National Invitational.

Unionville High School:
Earned a total of six varsity letters during his scholastic career, including three for track & field, two in cross country and one in swimming ... Also played soccer.

Personal: Born 5/1/98 in Princeton, N.J. ... Older of two children of Timothy and Patricia Powers ... Has a younger sister, Caroline (16) ... Father was a college swimmer at Rider ... Hobbies include karate, in which he is a second degree black belt ... Chose to attend Villanova because it gave him the chance to balance his academic studies with athletics, and the support systems to be successful in both pursuits ... Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
