Tallied a personal best 8K time of 25:12.1 at the Paul Short Run ... Recorded a time of 26:55.1 over 5.2 miles at the Penn State National Open ... Began the season with a 17th place finish at the Main Line Invitational, where he had a time of 20:32.0 over four miles.
2017 Outdoor: Helped the Wilddcats win a BIG EAST title in the 4x800 meter relay ... Ran the second leg of the relay ath the BIG EAST Championships with a split of 1:53.24 and Villanova won the race with a time of 7:37.94 ... Also placed ninth individually in the 1500 meters at the conference meet ... Crossed the finish line in 3:52.55 in the preliminary heats and was ranked 11th overall before moving up to ninth with a time of 3:58.13 in the final ... Led off the distance medley relay at the Penn Relays and had a split of 2:58.16 over 1200 meters ... Villanova finished fifth in that race with a time of 9:34.59 ... Opened the season by anchoring the 4x1500 meter relay squad to a first place finish with a time of 15:40.36 at the Colonial Relays ... Ran three other races in the 1500 meters and had a season-best time of 3:48.05 in a runner-up finish at the Jim Kehoe Invitational ... Came in fifth at the Sam Howell Invitational (3:52.56) and was 30th in the elite section at the Larry Ellis Invitational (3:53.46).
2017 Indoor: Ran his only race of the season at the Gotham Cup, where he notched a first place finish in the 3000 meters and produced a personal best time of 8:21.23 ... Missed part of the indoor season with an illness and did not compete after the middle of January.
2016 Cross Country: Ran in five races during the season ... Began the year by placing 19th overall and third on the team at the Big 5 Invitational, where he posted a time of 19:52.9 over 6000 meters ... Ran in the four mile Main Line Invitational and finished 18th with a time of 20:27.0 ... Registered a time of 26:32.1 over 8000 meters at the Chile Pepper Festival ... Competed in the 5.2 mile race at the Penn State National and registered a time of 27:44 ... Came in 58th at the BIG EAST Championships with a time of 26:51.3 over 8000 meters.
2016 Summer Season: Became the 39th member of Villanova's esteemed group of sub-four minute milers ... One week after the end of the collegiate season, he raced in a Princeton qualifying meet and recorded a time of 3:39.82 in the 1500 meters ... That is the metric equivalent of a sub-four minute mile and earned Malone consideration for the United States Olympic Trials ... He also competed at the New Balance Inferno in Guelph, Ont. and registered a second-straight sub-four equivalent when he posted a time of 3:40.11.
2016 Outdoor: Reached the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career as a qualifier in the 1500 meters ... In the national semifinal heats of the 1500 meters, produced a time of 3:49.54 and finished in a virtual tie for fifth place in his heat and the final qualifying spot in the final ... The times of Malone and another competitor were extended out to the thousandths of a second, and Malone's time of 3:49.540 fell seven-thousandths of a second short (3:49.533) of moving on to the final ... Earned honorable mention All-America honors and was ranked 17th overall at the NCAA meet ... Was an automatic qualifier coming out of both the national first round and national quarterfinal heats of the 1500 meters at the NCAA East Preliminary ... Ranked third overall after recording a time of 3:43.28 in the first round, and finished fifth overall in the quarterfinal round with a time of 3:44.28 ... Was part of a BIG EAST title in the 4x800 meter relay ... Ran the third leg of the relay at the BIG EAST Championships and Villanova won the relay with a time of 7:39.00 ... Also placed fourth individually in the 800 meters at the conference meet ... Had a time of 1:52.14 in the final after leading the field with a time of 1:50.51 in the preliminaries ... Led off the distance medley relay and anchored the 4xMile relay at the Penn Relays ... 2016 Indoor: Contributed to the Wildcats third straight team title at the BIG EAST Championships by being part of the lineup for the distance medley relay and the 4x800 meter relay ... Led off the conference champion 4x800 relay and Villanova posted a winning time of 7:28.96 ... Ran the 800 meter leg of the DMR, in which the Wildcats finished second with a time of 9:29.17 ... That time represents the fourth-fastest indoor DMR race in school history ... Earned All-BIG EAST honors in both relays ... Anchored the DMR earlier in the season at the Penn State National, where Villanova came in seventh in the invitational section of the relay and posted a time of 9:44.75 ... Registered personal best times individually in the Mile and the 3000 meters during the season ...
