VILLANOVA, Pa.— This weekend the men’s tennis team will take their first road trip of the fall campaign. The Wildcats will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to participate in the ninth annual Saint Joseph’s Invitational. The invitational is set to start on Friday, Sept. 22 and end on Sunday, Sept. 24.
The set-up of this year’s invitational is a majority of the doubles matches will be held on Friday while the remaining doubles and all singles matches will be played on Saturday. The championships and consilations of each flight will be played on Sunday in conclusion of the invitational. Last year at the Saint Joseph’s Invitational, Villanova advanced six of its players to the final day of competition. On the final day of competition, the Wildcats saw four named as runners-up.
In the opening weekend of the fall season Villanova men’s tennis hosted the seventh annual Villanova Invitational. The Wildcats saw three earn championships in their respective draws in the last day of competition. Freshman, Tommy Mulfur came out strong in his first invitational as a Wildcat, going a perfect 6-0 on the weekend. He took three doubles matches with partner William Elmore and three singles matches.
