Wildcats Stopped by Delaware 5-2
Sept. 28, 2006
NEWARK, Del. - Despite a 5-2 loss in its second dual match of the season, Villanova (1-1) produced one double-winner against Delaware (1-0) on Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware Field House Courts. Junior Sean Daly (Miami, Fla.) claimed a win in straight sets at third singles and paired with classmate Dimitri Chimerakis (North Palm Beach, Fla.) for a win at the top doubles spot.
The Wildcats claimed the doubles point by notching wins at the top two spots, but Daly's win at third singles was all Villanova could get against the Blue Hens. Junior Scott Fahrendorf (Reno, Nev.) played a close-fought match at the second singles spot, dropping the first set 6-4 before falling 7-6 (13) in a tight second set.
Wednesday's match was the final competition for Villanova in the fall season. The team opens up the spring schedule on February 3 against Navy.
