Adler Captures Title at Tim Berman Fall Tournament

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - In the main draw of the Tim Berman Fall Tournament on Sunday afternoon senior Andrew Adler (Sarasota, Fla.) won a pair of matches against opponents from host Swarthmore at the Faulkner Courts to claim the tournament title at this weekend's local event. Adler defeated James Wieler (6-3, 5-7, 10-4) and Malik Mubeen (6-2, 6-2) in his matches on Sunday after previously winning a pair of matches on Saturday to earn a spot in the main draw semifinals and championship.
In the two days of competition at Swarthmore the Wildcats combined to win eight singles matches and go 8-5 overall against opponents from the host Garnet as well as Lafayette. Sophomore Chris Cua (Wellesley, Mass.) played in the second draw of the tournament on Sunday and defeated both Brian Stefanowicz (6-4, 6-3) and Brian Pinkard (6-4, 6-4) of the Leopards to finish the weekend with a 3-1 record.
Senior Kyle Grandin (Round Rock, Texas) scored a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jake Lazer of Lafayette in the third draw on Sunday, while Lazer posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory over sophomore Joseph Monaldo (Overland Park, Kan.).
Complete results from the Villanova matches played on Sunday are listed below. One tournament remains on the fall schedule for the Wildcats, who will play in the Quinnipiac Invitational from October 5-7.
