Providence, R.I.Sumanth Chittajallu fell in the finals of the Flight 8 singles to Ben Rosenstock of Bucknell 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 to finish second as Villanova competed in the Northeast Tournament, held at Brown, over the weekend.

Two other Wildcat newcomers, Anuj Malhotra and Larry Tran reached the semi-finals in Flight 9 singles. Malhotra defeated Joel Gamoran (UConn) and Jason Suway (Bucknell) in straight sets before falling to Steve Tlumaki (Assumption) 3-6, 4-6. Tran handed losses to both Graham Wheeler (Colgate) and Dave Reuter (Niagara) before being stopped by Sidharth Makkor (Bucknell).

If Tran and Malhotra had advanced, they would have met in the finals. However, they ended up meeting the match for third place, with Malhotra emerging victorious.
