Men's Tennis Competes at the Bloomsburg Invitational

Bloomsburg, Pa. --- On Saturday, Sept. 7, the Villanova men's tennis team opened up the 2002-03 season taking part in the Bloomsburg Invitational. Sophomore Aaron Kusza was the highlight for the 'Cats as he defeated Bloomsburg's Kris Shumway at second singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Other Wildcats picking up wins against Bloomsburg on the afternoon was freshman Carl Fenzl who defeated Jason Brooke, 6-4, 6-2, and Justin Goulet who beat Mark Farnsworth in straight sets. In the later matches on the day versus Binghamton, junior Ricardo Baraldi earned his first victory of the season at the fifth spot beating Brian O'Connor 7-6, 6-4. Fenzl and Goulet picked up their second consecutive victories on the year as well with straight set wins.
Villanova will be back on the courts tomorrow afternoon, Sept. 8 when they battle Lehigh in singles play and Bloomsburg and Binghamton in doubles action.
