Men's Tennis Falls Short Versus Bucknell

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Scott Fahrendorf and Sean Gallagher each won their respective singles matches and the Wildcats swept in doubles, but Bucknell barely escaped with a 4-3 win over Villanova (7-13) on Saturday at the Villanova Tennis Complex. Fahrendorf won his No. 4 match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 over John Loshnits. Gallagher then followed with a three-set victory at the No. 5 spot, defeating Joe Menezes, 6-2, 1-6, 6-0. Villanova swept the doubles matches, as Aaron Kusza and Ricardo Baraldi paired up at No. 1 for an 8-6 win over Ira Reibeisen and Asher Salam. Dimitri Chimerakis and Gallagher were the No. 2 winners, while the duo of Fahrendorf and Charlie Farmer won the No. 3 match. The loss to Bucknell marked the last match of Villanova's regular season. It will wait for the Big East to release the seedings of the 2005 Big East men's tennis championship, held at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The top six teams in the conference earn a spot in the chamionships.
