Kusza Wins at No. 1 Singles, but Villanova Falls to St. Joseph's, 6-1

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior Aaron Kusza (Wallingford, Conn.) won his No. 1 singles match, but St. Joseph's took the next five singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to post a 6-1 win over the Wildcats on Thursday afternoon at the Villanova Tennis Complex. Kusza won his match in three sets over Frank Velazquez, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. Senior Sean Gallagher (Fort Wayne, Ind.) forced his No. 6 singles match into a third set, but dropped his No. 6 match, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to Van Homer Pangilnan. In doubles action, freshman Charlie Farmer (Newport Beach, Calif.) paired up with Scott Fahrendorf (Reno, Nev.) for a No. 3 doubles win over Chris Spencer and Pangilnan, 8-4. The Wildcats will close out their regular season on Saturday, April 16, when they host Bucknell at 2 p.m.
