Bucknell Hands Villanova 5-2 Loss

Lewisburg, Pa. - Junior John Borden (Philadelphia, Pa.) and freshman Sumanth Chittajallu (Columbus, Ohio) each won their singles matches as Villanova (7-12) fell 2-5 to Bucknell (5-10) yesterday afternoon.

Borden defeated Matt Pikus in three sets at no. 4 singles. He rebounded after losing the first 2-6 to take the second and third 6-2, 6-4. Chittajallu's match went into a tie-break at no. 6 singles. The freshman also rallied from a first-set loss (3-6) to take the second 7-5, and Chittajallu won the tie-breaker 10-8.

Sophomore Scott Fahrendorf (Reno, Nev.) nearly earned another point for 'Nova. He played at no. 3 singles against Dan Bednarek and lost the first set 1-6 but came back to win the second 6-3. However, Bucknell's John Lashnits took the last set 6-4 for the win.

Villanova takes on St. Joseph's today at 2:30 p.m. and finishes the regular season tomorrow at UMBC at 2:00 p.m.
