Wildcats Swept by Big East Rival Rutgers 7-0

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Villanova Wildcats were swept on Thursday, April 11 to Big East rival Rutgers, 7-0, in men's tennis action at the Rutgers Tennis Complex. With the loss, Villanova drops to 8-9 overall and 0-4 in conference action while Rutgers improves to 6-6 on the season and and remains undefeated (4-0) in Big East play. In No. 1 singles action, Akshay Jagdale notched his sixth singles win of the year, defeating the 'Cats Brad Adams in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Aaron Kusza, playing at fourth singles, was defeated 6-4, 7-5 while senior A.J. Rohde dropped a straight set match at the No. 2 spot. Rutgers also dominated the doubles play, sweeping all three matches from the Wildcats. Jagdale and Schweitzer won their fourth match of the spring, upending Adams and Devine, 8-3, while Vissers and Bielen topped Andy Herron and Lucas Kaster, 8-1, in the No. 2 doubles match. Kusza and Rohde were also defeated in the No. 3 doubles match, 8-3. Villanova will look for a Big East victory in their last regular season game of the year on Saturday, April 13, when they host the University of Connecticut Huskies at 12:00 p.m. SINGLES: 1- Akshay Jagdale (RU) def.
