Wildcats Win Two

VILLANOVA, Pa. - TThe Villanova men's tennis squad notched its first Big East win of the season on Sunday, April 3, when it defeated UConn, 7-0, in Storrs, Conn. The Wildcats then defeated Temple in non-conference action on Tuesday, April 5, beating the Owls by a score of 5-2. Villanova's record now sits at 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the Big East. The Wildcats dominated all singles and doubles matches versus the Huskies and won each of their matches in straight sets. Villanova also won four of its six singles matches against the Owls. Aaron Kusza won his No. 1 singles match, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3. Angel Rubio, Scott Fahrendorf and Sean Gallagher also won at No. 4-6 singles, respectively. The Wildcats took two of three doubles matches over Temple. Kusza paired up with Ricardo Baraldi for a 9-8 No. 1 doubles win. Scott Fahrendorf and Tony Soruco combined for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Villanova, originally scheduled to play at UMBC on Thursday, will now play host to the Retrievers at 3 p.m.
