Doubles Point is Decisive Factor as Wildcats Edged by Georgetown, 4-3

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Well-played and closely contested singles matches resulted in an even split between the teams but the doubles point was decisive as Villanova (6-8) lost a close match to Georgetown (8-8), 4-3, at the West Campus Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon. The three points for the Wildcats came from singles victories at the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 matches.
Junior Thomas O'Brien (Guilford, Conn.) won his No. 1 singles match in straight sets against Daniel Khanin, winning by identical set scores of 6-2 and 6-2. In the No. 4 singles match freshman Max Levine (Lubbock, Texas) rallied to defeat Shane Korber in three sets. He pulled out a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (1) victory and sophomore Kelly Donaldson (Broomfield, Colo.) was a 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 winner at the No. 6 singles match against Alex Tropiano.
Next up for the Wildcats is a match at Tufts on Friday afternoon.
