Men's Tennis Secures First Victory of Spring Season Over Sacred Heart

Wildcats Bring Home 4-3 Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Villanova men's tennis team (2-11) picked up their first victory of the spring season against Sacred Heart where they won, 4-3, against the Pioneers at the Yale Indoor Tennis Courts. With the loss, Sacred Heart falls to 8-6-1 for the season.

Villanova picked up victories at the No. 2 through 5 singles spots with David Shaheen, Connor Witty, Alex Hanno and Trenton Alenik winning over Sacred Heart's Chris Ujkic, Nick Mazzarese, Michael Syer and Chadd Sullo, respectively. Shaheen took his match into a third set to set the tone for the day with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win.

In doubles, Villanova was defeated in all three matches, with the pairings of Rafael Santiago and David Shaheen, Alex Hanno and Alex Lesser, and Trenton Alenik and John Drosick falling to SHU's No. 1-3 doubles partners.

The Wildcats will be back in action this Saturday when they host Bucknell at the Villanova Tennis Complex on March 20th. Match time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.ET.
