Men's Tennis Defeats Fairfield, Grand Valley State

ORLANDO, Fla.--- Senior Aaron Kusza (Wallingford, Conn.) won his No. 1 singles match in straight sets as Villanova defeated Fairfield, 6-1, on March 10 during spring break play. The Wildcats also defeated Grand Valley State, 5-4, while falling to Penn State, 7-0, and Valparaiso. The Wildcats won five of six singles matches versus the Stags, and swept the doubles matches behind the pairings of Kuzsa/Farmer, Scott Gallagher and Scott Fahrenforf, and Angel Rubio and Tony Soruco. Rubio won his singles match during the loss versus Valparasio, while Farmer/Fahrendorf teamed up to win their doubles match. Villanova's only win against Penn State was the No. 3 doubles win from Baraldi/Gallagher. In the match against Grand Valley State, the Wildcats won two of their three doubles matches and three singles matches to take the 5-4 win. Kusza won his No. 1 singles match in straight sets, defeating Kyle Dehne, 6-3, 6-4. Angel Rubio won his No. 4 singles match, also in straight sets, and Tony Soruco had the third singles win for Villanova at No. 6. The Wildcats return home to host Georgetown on March 19 at noon.
