PHILADELPHIA, Pa.— The Villanova Men’s Tennis team competed against Drexel in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday evening. The Wildcats topped Drexel, 4-2 to improve to x-x on the season.
“I think that this match showed the team how they have been improving with every practice and match. This should motivate our guys to keep their eyes on accomplishing our ultimate team goals,” Wildcats Head Coach Brad Adams said.
In doubles, Tommy Dodson and Tyler Roth were first to finish on the No. 2 spot as they won their match, 6-2. In the No. 1 were Will Elmore and Tommy Mulflur who dropped a close battle, 7-5. Mike Czlonka and Stefan Suarez rounded out doubles competition in the No. 3 spot as they also came up short, 7-5. Drexel would clinch the doubles point.
Czlonka in the No. 2 spot kicked things off for the Wildcats in singles, but camp up short dropping his match against the Dragons. In the No. 1 was Stefan Suarez who continued to dominate his singles match as he earned the victory against his opponent. Dylan Flanagan won his match in the No. 3 spot as Dodson captured the Victory in the No. 4 spot. Captain Alastair Hurry rounded out the competition in the No. 6 spot as he helped the Wildcats clinch the match with his victory.
“Our guys make a lot of sacrifices to train and get in quality practices and their commitment paid off tonight in an extremely physical match where our guys were able to outlast and conquer their opponent,” said Adams.
Next, will be on the road at Navy. While, at Navy on Saturday, Feb. 24 the Wildcats will take on Monmouth N.J. and Navy.
