Curtin Named to All-Big East Second Team

Villanova, Pa.--- Sophomore defenseman Jim Curtin was named to the All-Big East second team at the annual Big East Tournament banquet this past weekend, for his outstanding play during the 1998 season. Curtin, from Oreland, Pa., was named the Big East Conference's Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 1997.

After an phenomenal season one year ago in helping lead the Wildcats to their first berth in the Big East Championships since 1993, Curtin had yet another great season in 1998. He played a lead role in helping the Cats win four out of their last five contests on the year to finish at 5-12-0.

At 6-4, Curtin uses his height to his advantage possessing an outstanding heading ability. A tough defender with both size and speed, he also showed his versatility this season seeing time in the midfield and at forward in addition to his duties on the defense side of the ball.

Hailing from Bishop McDevitt High School, Curtin was a two-time member of the All-League first team and received All-State distinction as a senior.
