VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats (10-2-2 overall, 2-0-2 BIG EAST) continue their push towards the end of the regular season on Wednesday afternoon when they host Syracuse (10-4-0 overall, 3-2-0 BIG EAST) at the Villanova Soccer Complex. The senior from Langhorne, Pa., leads the `Cats with six goals and two assists for 14 points on the season.
Syracuse comes in fresh from a 1-0 victory over USF on Saturday night in Tampa. The Orange have scored 28 goals on the season.
"Syracuse is a big, athletic team that will challenge us," says Villanova head coach Tom Carlin. "They come here off a big road win and have a proven ability to score. This will be another test for us."
VU last tasted defeat on Sept. 16, when Princeton prevailed 1-0 at the Soccer Complex. Since then, the Wildcats have clamped down defensively. In the seven games since that point, the Wildcats have surrendered just three goals (0.43 goals against average).
There are four games remaining in the regular season for Villanova, including this match. The Wildcats travel to Louisville and Rutgers before winding up the regular season at home on Oct. 27 against Pittsburgh.
"We don't know where this season will end but we do know we have to keep pushing and remain committed to our approach," says Carlin.
